2006-2007

On November 19, 2006 at 4:14 pm, the old box structure was demolished using 700 sticks of dynamite. The explosion was watched by 3,000 people crowded in a moving silence on Rivzza hill. The circuit and the annexed structures were then subject to a redevelopment and modernization plan, which concluded in September 2007 and was laid out by Hermann Tilke, the well-known German architect who specializes in the production of automotive circuits. The pit-building was completely rebuilt: the new structure has 32 boxes (compared to 18 before), a larger paddock has been created. A new Race Control was built, designed according to the most modern criteria, houses offices, race direction, timing room, loudspeaker and a VIP-lounge.
